It's lovely in Paradise
The Seychelles islands are known as the land of perpetual summer where the temperature seldom drops below 24 ºC. The calm wind-free conditions during April have produced some beautiful evenings and breathtaking sunsets. Conditions this time of year are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and especially diving as the water temperature sometimes reaches 29ºC and visibility is often 30 metres plus.
This sunset picture below was taken at Beau Vallon Beach on Wednesday evening and shows the island of Silhouette in the background.

April is also super yacht season and the Eden Island Marina has been busy. The location of the marina on the inland side of Eden Island provides ideal sheltered conditions.

Greg Davis wins Eden Island Lipton Cup 2009

The Eden Island Lipton Cup sailed into its centenary year at the Royal Cape Yacht Club (RCYC) from 21 to 28 August, and the competition was as fierce as it was when the prestigious tournament first set sail. Sir Thomas Lipton presented the trophy to Table Bay Yacht Club (now known as RCYC) in 1909 to be competed for by South African Yacht Clubs, and 100 years on it is considered as the biggest event on the SA sailing calendar.
A dominant display overall from Daly's Insurance saw Greg Davis capture his fourth consecutive title in the Eden Island Lipton Cup 2009, and will see the prestigious trophy remain at the Royal Cape Yacht Club for at least another year. The result also means Davis is now the most successful skipper in the history of the event with 8 titles under his belt. Davis and co-skipper David Rae sailed to victory in all three of the races which were run during the event, giving them an overall win with three points.

THE BOARDWALK NOW SERVING FOOD

The Boardwalk’s kitchen is now open and will be serving food.
The Boardwalk opened on the 4th of March 2008 and is currently managed by Ms. Lynn Tregarden. Lynn has 20 years experience in the hospitality industry and has plenty up her sleeve when it comes to great menu choices! Opening hours are 10 am until midnight, everyday. Food is served from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and again from 6 pm to 9:30 pm. Chatting to Christophe Houareau, Business Manager of The Boardwalk, about the menu options, he said: "We went for a really simple menu that makes the most of what is most abundant and fresh in Seychelles. The Boardwalk's Fish and Chips, Chicken and Chips and our very own, homemade, 1/4 pound "Boardwalk Burger" has already won over the crowd."
Another great aspect is that The Boardwalk hosts the country's tops musicians on the following days, every week:
Wednesday 8 pm till 11 pm
Friday 6 pm till 9 pm
Saturday 8 pm till 11 pm
Sunday 6 pm till 8:30 pm
So next time you visit The Boardwalk, make sure you save space for a scrumptious meal, good entertainment and ultimately a great time!
DELI WINE TASTING EVENING

On Friday the 7th of August, the Deli hosted a French cheese and wine tasting evening. Radley Webber, owner of the Deli, started the evening with a brief presentation before Home Owners got to tasting wines of various origin with carefully selected complementary cheeses. The introduction and tasting must have cleared up the mystery often associated with the complex classification of French wines, as many Home Owners left at the end of the evening with a few cases of their new favorite French wine.
